Police Department
Girard Fire Department and Girard Police Department will be hosting public forums regarding the upcoming election for a half-cent public safety sales tax. A presentation of information will be provided, as well as an opportunity to answer any questions brought forward by the community.
Locations and dates are as follows.
October 19, 2023 at 7 PM located at Girard High School Cafeteria, 405 North Summit St. (Can enter cafeteria from Crespino Dr.)
October 26, 2023 at 7 PM located at Girard Civic Center, 102 North Ozark St, Girard.
Responsibilities
The Girard Police Department welcomes you to our online departmental information. The goal of our department is to provide a progressive law enforcement presence for the community, realizing that our primary objective is to the protection of life and property.
Additionally, the Department is responsible for enforcing codes and ordinances as set forth in the Uniform Public Offense Code and the Standard Traffic Ordinance for Kansas Cities. We will accomplish this through the development of mutual trust in serving and protecting the citizens and visitors of Girard through professional integrity and a passion for serving the citizens and community.
Other duties include:
- Enforcing animal control and assisting in the capture of reported stray animals
- Identifying and removing inoperable vehicles
- Verifying proper installation of child safety seats
- Overseeing child passenger safety
- Running the Crime Prevention Program
