Girard Municipal Court

The Girard Municipal Court serves as the judicial branch of the City of Girard and is responsible for fairly and efficiently administering cases involving violations of City ordinances. Our goal is to provide courteous, professional service while ensuring every person appearing before the Court is treated with fairness, respect, and impartiality.

The Municipal Court hears cases involving traffic offenses, ordinance violations, animal control violations, code enforcement matters, and other municipal offenses occurring within the City of Girard.

Court Schedule

Municipal Court is held on the first Wednesday of each month in the City Council Chambers at the rear of City Hall, located at:

120 N. Ozark
Girard, KS

The courtroom is accessible through the Police Department entrance on the south side of the building.

Court sessions begin as follows:

  • First Appearances: 3:30 p.m.
  • Status Hearings / Pay or Appear: 4:30 p.m.
  • Trials: 5:00 p.m.

Clerk’s Office Hours

The Court Clerk is available to accept payments, answer general questions, and assist the public during regular business hours:

Tuesday through Friday
7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Jurisdiction

The Girard Municipal Court has jurisdiction over violations of City ordinances, including but not limited to:

  • Traffic violations
  • Animal control violations
  • Property maintenance and environmental code violations
  • Other City ordinance violations

Municipal Court proceedings are conducted without a jury. All cases are heard by the Municipal Judge in accordance with the Kansas Code of Municipal Courts, the Kansas Rules of Evidence, applicable state law, and the ordinances of the City of Girard.
