resources; and city infrastructure, facilities, and services.
The comprehensive plan is developed through a detailed and engaging process. Citizen participation is vital to properly and accurately identify community issues, needs, and desires. We will also be thinking about emerging issues that will be important in the future.
The first step in the process is to identify a vision for Girard. The vision is a statement that defines the ideal future for Girard. This statement should identify Girard’s core values, existing aspects of Girard that make it special and unique, as well as desired enhancements.
From that vision, we will develop more specific goals for each topic covered in the plan. To gauge progress in achieving the goals, we will then develop objectives. The objectives will be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time sensitive.
We then need to identify how to implement the comprehensive plan. This will be done through the development of a strategic action plan. This part of the comprehensive plan will prioritize community goals and objectives to determine how resources should be allocated. It will also establish action steps, assign responsibilities, and identify potential funding options.
Our future is important. Get involved in determining what it looks like and how we get there. Only your help we can make sure Girard is still a great place to call home in thirty years.
