Checklist for dwellings with water:
- 1. Make sure the City Office has an updated telephone number on file in event there is a problem with your waterIf your phone number has changed or if you would like to add your cell phone number to your account, please write your number on your billing stub and enclose with your monthly payment.
- 2. Check for water leaks inside and outside of your residence beginning at the waterOlder pipes may develop leaks due to the increase in water pressure from the new towers.
- 3. Make sure your master water service shut-off valve isIf you do not have a master shut-off valve, make sure you have one installed. The shut-off valve should be located after the meter, but preferably in the home/business for convenience of use. The shut-off valve will allow the customer or contractor to immediately shut-off the water to the residence for leaks or repairs.
Reminder: It is unlawful for anyone to tamper with the water meter, including turning on and off service at the meter. Once the new meters are installed, they can become damaged during the removal of the water meter lid. Although previously not strictly enforced, NO ONE except a City Employee is authorized to be in the water meter pit.
The new system will alert the City Office of tampering when a meter lid has been removed and the meter has been shut off or turned on. More stringent enforcement of this city code will be in effect with the new system and damaged meters will be charged to the customer and/or property owner.
We look forward to a smooth transition during the project and strive for increased customer satisfaction!
